Dr. Mark Svare, P.E., I.R.P.E., D.F.E.

Forensic Electrical Engineer, Master Electrician and Hazardous Materials Technician

Mark is a licensed Master Electrician, and Professional Electrical Engineer who has been involved in Forensic Engineering since 1990. Mark conducted his doctoral research at the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science, School of Science and Engineering, University of Dundee, United Kingdom. He also has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (B.E.E.) degree from the University of Minnesota. Mark is board certified as a Diplomate in Forensic Engineering (DFE) through the National Academy of Forensic Engineers, a NAFI - Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator and Dupont trained Hazardous Materials Technician. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served honorably as an Electronic Warfare Specialist onboard the U.S.S. Briscoe DD977. While in the Navy, Mark served in regions such as South America, Europe, and Mediterranean countries. Mark has taught numerous electrical courses for international, U.S. federal, state, local, and private organizations, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Advanced Fire Investigation program located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center – Brunswick, Georgia. Mark has been involved with the evaluation and analysis of electrical distribution, controls and equipment failure events that include, in part, fire, explosions, personal injury and equipment damage. Mark's practical experience and hands-on approach to investigations has qualified him as an electrical expert in both U.S. federal and state courts.

Matt Dubbin, P.E., I.R.P.E.

Forensic Electrical Engineer and Hazardous Materials Technician

Matt has been active in the field of consulting and forensic engineering since 1995. He graduated from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Matt has taught numerous electrical investigation classes for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as well as other state, local, and private organizations. Matt's investigations include examinations of electrical equipment failures, electric shock, electrocution, vehicle systems and fires.

Jason McPherson, P.E., I.R.P.E.

Forensic Electrical Engineer, Master Electrician and Hazardous Materials Technician

Jason is a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer. He has been active in the field of electrical engineering since 1997. Jason graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Arkansas. While working in private industry, he designed control systems for assembly machinery, material handling equipment, boilers, and other electrical processes.

Jason has taught electrical investigation classes for U.S. federal, state, local, and private organizations. Jason has been involved in forensic investigations since 2006. His investigations have included fire, explosions, personal injury and equipment damage. He has testified as an electrical expert in both depositions and trials.

Dan Evans, P.E.

Forensic Electrical Engineer and Hazardous Materials Technician

Dan is a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer with over 30 years of diverse electrical engineering experience. He’s earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1999, and a Master of Energy Engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. He has more than eight years of experience in the design and manufacture of electrical switchgear. Dan served as electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction and several other engineering and management roles at a federally owned national research facility. Dan worked for Underwriters Laboratories for three years, and he is a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He has been awarded two U.S. patents, and is co-author of several scientific and IEEE transaction publications. Dan has been involved with evaluation and analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment failure events for more than 10 years.
